Dissertation Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to revolutionize many aspects of our daily lives, but with such a dynamic and novel use of technology, AI has created some significant concerns for policy makers. Researchers and key stakeholders have raised significant ethical concerns about the use of AI is fields like healthcare. In the interlocking relationship between the technology, economics, and policy, the United States has only introduced policy related to how AI can benefit society and has implemented limited policy related to the regulation of the technology or guidance on ethical issues for use cases. This research investigates the role of theoretical frameworks that can be applied to the regulation and developmental expectations of AI in healthcare.
